Ultrasonic humidifiers raise relative humidity and disperse nutrients to plants in the enclosure. They are cool mist humidifiers that simulate fog and cloud cover.
How Ultrasonic Humidifiers Work
Ultrasonic humidifiers use a small vibrating metal or ceramic plate to break up water particles into a fine, cool mist. This mist disperses throughout the enclosure which increases humidity. They are very quiet and can be set on timers to run at intervals throughout the day or as needed.
When to Use an Ultrasonic Humidifier
An ultrasonic humidifier is particularly helpful if you are growing plants and/or keeping animals that thrive in moderate- to high-humidity environments.
If you don't naturally have a lot of humidity where you live, keeping the humidity levels in an enclosure can be challenging. Rather than manually misting, adding an ultrasonic humidifier to an enclosure helps to keep humidity levels at comfortable levels for your plants and animals.
Other Benefits
- Since the water is vibrated into a fine mist, any nutrients in the water column are also dispersed to your plants as a natural form of fertilization.
- The water is not heated with an ultrasonic humidifier, so it is safe for plants and animals.
- Our ultrasonic humidifiers use ceramic plates, which last longer and are easily replaceable. We've run the same ultrasonic humidifiers in our test enclosures for over 7 years without any failure or need to replace the plates. The last time we used a product with a metal plate, it lasted less than 6 months, so we only use ceramic in our enclosures. Your mileage may vary.
